After a year of planning and building work, yesterday (13th July) saw the official opening of the Old Lodge Lane Community Hub. Funded by the GLA and Croydon Council, it offers facilities for local community groups to meet as well as a venue for private functions, activities and classes. Food Stop, the food bank run by the Baptist Church, which helps up to 80 local families is based here. The opening was hosted by Pastor Nick Graves and was attended by members of the GLA and Croydon Council including Mayor Jason Perry.
The Community Hub is part of the Connecting Kenley Programme, a series of projects to improve local community facilities, which included the refurbishment of Kenley Memorial Hall.
