Kenley wouldn’t be Kenley without its trees. Many are protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPO) but the vast majority are not. KENDRA needs a volunteer to be our Tree Protection Officer.
The Tree Protection Officer would need to know which trees have TPOs and identify those which would benefit from protection. They would monitor Tree Applications made to Croydon Council, that is, applications for tree works and removals. Additionally, they would write an objection letter if any proposed removals or pruning appears overzealous.
This is an important role as Tree Applications are often (but not always) used as a precursor to a future over-development planning proposal. The Tree Protection Officer would be a point of contact when unauthorised works are suspected.
