A huge THANK YOU to all those who volunteered for our second litter pick on 9th July. A good turnout and lots of litter collected – you are champions. It was apparent that our roads weren’t quite as badly littered as last time, which is a good indication that we’re getting on top of the problem. Litter free roads is our goal and we’ve made a good start.
We’ll continue with the monthly litter picks for now, but ideally we want a group of ‘hard core’ volunteers who are willing to carry out mini-picks on a regular, perhaps weekly, basis. If we can get enough volunteers spread across the ward, then the monthly picks will be unnecessary, or at least adhoc. We’re looking to get pickers and bag holders of our own supplied through Kendra and to ask the council if they would collect the orange bags on our fortnightly landfill days.
If you would like to be a regular litter Champion then please contact me at litter@kenleyra.org.uk
Again, thanks and well done.
