Thursday 13th July between 3pm and 8pm at Old Lodge Lane Community Hub
Croydon Council and the Kenley Community Advisory Group will host the ‘Big Splash,’ an exhibition to celebrate the work completed so far to improve the facilities, services and infrastructure in Kenley. The exhibition will be held at Old Lodge Lane Community Hub at the Baptist Church hall. The Community Hub is itself part of the improvements and will be formally opened in a ceremony at 6pm.
Residents may be confused by the plethora of initiatives and consultations by Croydon Council and others over the past few years. These include the Kenley Community Plan, the Connecting Kenley Programme, the Greater London Authorities Good Growth Fund and Kenley Transport Study.
A visit to the Big Splash may go some way to help residents understand what they are about and how they have, or will, improve Kenley. Some of it involves sign posting, creating ‘parklets,’ cycle routes and making Kenley safer. Residents will have the opportunity to give their views on the options.
Some of the money for the Good Growth Fund has come from ‘a charge agreed with a developer to mitigate the impact of new developments on the local community and infrastructure.’ Residents can decide for themselves if it’s money well spent.
